       ~Chapter 1~
Light footsteps are heard along with the sound of distant piano playing. Each strike upon the keys reverberates throughout the Auditorium. This sanctuary of sound stood tall at the southern end of the central area of the island. It had an old and sorrowful aura about it as it was noticeably unkempt and abandoned.
A girl is seen walking through the endless corridors. As each note passes through her she clenches tightly at her heart. Further and further she journeys toward the sound, each step bathing her in near sunset light through the many giant stain glass windows. As the song comes reluctantly to its end, the girl now stands atop the stairs leading to the stage. The girl is slender with a medium complexion. Her hair is of the deepest black, it is in long winding coils and thrown over her shoulder. The front is loosely swept to one side. She is wearing a sleeveless spandex suit under a tank top, the legs stop just above her knee. There is a thin, blue see-through veil tied loosely tied around her was that lightly touches her shins. She has white slip on shoes and hears a charm bracelet full of small mirrors. As one inspects this girl they are captured in her endless blue eyes that were now ready to spring forth tears. She holds herself tighter as the last note is played. She slowly raised her once drooping head. She now saw the master of the once resounding melody, sitting on his throne in front of his grand weapon of the heart.
This boy was of a lighter complexion, he wore a long sleeve silk black shirt. Over the shirt was a white vest with black embroideries along the shoulders going around to his back. Through the vest, his black shirt was not tucked in, dangling the two ends of the shirt onto his legs. His pants were also white; these had thin black lines all around. This reminded one of a measure in a musical score. His hair too, was black. It was all brushed to the front, looking as if he had fallen from the sky for an eternity. The front was spiked down the middle.
As the girl fixated her gaze on the boy, he slowly raised his head from the piano. He looked into his memory and stared off in reminiscent joy. There he and the girl playing in various places. A moment later he gave a complacent smile, followed by words.
“Kaisou…” he said softly, in a voice of caring and relief.
“I’m glad you came.” He is now turned to the girl happily looking into her eyes. The girl places her hands gently over her heart and speaks.
“I’ve been listening to you play ever since we were little…and I still can’t stop myself from crying after you play a song.” She wipes away tears.
“They are so beautiful but so very tragic.” The boy turns halfway back to the piano, now with an upset face.
“Your voice is much more beautiful than anything I could ever hope to play with these cursed hands…”
The girl blushes as the boy looks angrily at his hands.
“Cursed to play songs that only compel the heart into sadness…” The girl gives a comforting smile as she slightly tilts her head.
“Oh Heitan…” As the boys name rolls off her tongue a loud bell is heard. They both look toward the back window, which is now flooding the Auditorium with orange light. The bell strikes twice.
“Well, it’s getting late, lets head home Heitan.” The clock strikes seven.
As they walked home, both walked separately, the girl with arms crossed and the boy with hands in pockets. As they look to the sky the girl smiles.
“My sister and your brother were playing all day again today.” The boy looks onward, now with and agitated face.
“I bet he’s going to sleep in AGAIN.” They both laugh and continue walking.
They are now at the girl’s front gate twelve houses down from the boys. The surrounding tropical trees rustle in the wind. The girl looks down in guilt.
“I’m sorry we didn’t get to hang out longer today. I’ve been so busy at work lately.”  She looks away hiding her watering eyes. The boy grabs her shoulders.
“It’s ok, I’m happy seeing you everyday at least.” The girl regains her composer and nods at him. The boys hands start to sweat, heart racing.
“Hey Kaisou...I- I was wondering...since you don’t have work tomorrow...if you wanted to get something to eat with me at the beach…” The girl cheerfully grabs the gate as she walks backwards.
“It’s a date.” She leaves him standing there as she runs into her house giggling. The boy makes his way home, face bright red.
